Solar energy is the energy generated by the sun. It can be converted into electricity or used directly for heating and lighting purposes.
Solar panels are installed on your roof or property. These panels absorb the sun's energy and convert it into DC electricity. A solar inverter then converts the DC electricity into AC electricity, which is used to power your home or business.
Solar energy is renewable, sustainable, and clean. It can help reduce your energy bills, decrease your carbon footprint, and increase the value of your property.
The DC Government Program is what provides the solar incentives in Washington, DC so we can offer you this at no cost. Smart Solar Solutions is a team of solar consultants working in partnership with the DC government to provide high-quality solar products. However, DC covers the costs so that homeowners can receive the benefits of free solar electricity for the next 20 to 30 years.
This is almost true. Someone is paying for solar, it’s just not you (the government is). So it is free to you.
We make money from the federal tax credit and the DC local incentives called (SRECs), and you genuinely get your solar system for free, and receive all the savings by generating free electricity for yourself and reducing or eliminating your entire electric bill.
It used to be complicated and required a certain income level to get free solar. Only recently has it become available to all DC residents. If you’re a homeowner in DC and your roof has good solar exposure – you are in.
Our consultants can take a look at your roof and determine if you are a good candidate for free solar program. Our service is complimentary to you as well, because we get paid directly by the installers.
The DC residents are not fully aware of the incentives. Consequently, there is only so much capacity to get utility approval and permits to build the projects. DC is quickly converting to solar, don’t get left behind thinking it isn’t.
Additionally, many DC homeowners have been misinformed, or not informed about the existing incentives available when you own a home in DC. Not every home qualifies if shading or other problems arise with the roof itself, but most of the homes in DC do.
This is pretty straightforward. There are no monthly payments because you will have a contract stating that your electricity is free for the next 25 years. Technically, it will state your initial electricity price - $0 / kWh and that rate will never increase.
We will take a look at your roof to determine if it will need to be fixed or replaced well before we install the solar.
If it does need to be replaced, we have roofing partners that can help and we even have an option to cover the roof replacement costs through a reduced electricity bill from the solar that will still save you 50% versus your current electric costs.
A brand new roof and 50% reduction in electricity costs has really helped a lot of people who knew they needed a new roof but didn’t know how they were going to afford the costs!
